Fallen by Lauren Kate

booksI got Fallen out of the library at school, well actually my friend picked it up and I was so drawn by the cover that I literally snatched it from her. The cover, proved right for once. I read all night, and, whilst I was exhausted for the next day of school, I was left with the inescapable  feeling of needing to read more.
The beginning got of to kind of a slow start, but I didn’t mind that because it irritates me when books dive straight into the main plot rather than leading up to it. I felt immediately curious when Luce describes the feeling of recognition when seeing Daniel, and although the prologue mentions no names, it is written in such a way that you subconsciously begin linking almost every moment with the two of them back to that to try and make a connection.
It may just be because of the fact that I am a hopeless romantic, but I thought that it was heartwrenchingly sweet and thoughtful, at some times passionate and tormenting, at others slightly frightening, but always exciting. I always felt a slightly pathetic twang in my heart whenever Daniel let Luce see a bit further through the armor he had built around himself.
There was a twist at the end that I never saw coming, the sort of thing that makes you grin with pleasure at your own stupidity. It was detailed, but not so much that made you skip pages and pages just to find out what happens in the ending. After reading it I immediately went and ordered the rest from the local library, but considering that I wanted to read them strait away I bought them from Waterstones instead. And I have to say, the rest of the series doesn’t disappoint, although the first book is significantly better than the other three.
I believe that there is also a film coming out in 2015 of the Fallen, starring
Lucinda – Addison Timlin               Daniel – Jeremy Irvine        Cam – Harrison Gilbertson          ect
